Calculate and Recalculate GPAs for a Student

You can use the Recalculate GPA button to calculate or recalculate grade point averages (GPAs) for a student with additional GPAs or new GPA.

You can only calculate and recalculate GPAs you added or changed. The GPAs are only calculated or recalculated for students with students statuses that have been configured with Active, Enrollment, or Temporary Out status categories.

Prerequisites

You must have:

  • Common - Student - View authorization

  • Academics - Additional GPA - Edit authorization

Your institution must have added or edited GPA (Select the Configuration tile > locate Academic Records > select GPAs.) for the student.

Access Method

Select the Students tile > select the name in the Students list > expand Academic Records > select the Additional GPAs tile.

Procedure to Calculate and Recalculate GPAs

  1. Verify that the program version is correct. If not, select the specific program version in the Program Version drop-down list.

  2. Highlight the GPA record.

  3. Select the Recalculate GPA button on the toolbar. Anthology Student recalculates GPA.
  4. Review the following values.

    CodeClosed The alphanumeric code assigned to the item by your institution. In most cases, codes must be unique.

    Cumulative GPAClosed The cumulative grade point average (GPA) for the benchmark. The cumulated GPA for an enrollment is calculated from the time the student entered the institution under that enrollment. The Cumulative GPA column includes all courses taken that are selected to be included in the GPA calculation. In the case of a cumulative GPA displayed on a term, it consists of all the courses taken up to and within the terms that are also selected to be included in the GPA calculation. The current GPA is made up of only the courses that occurred in that term.

    Current GPAClosed The grade point average (GPA) for the specified curriculum.

    NameClosed The descriptive name of the item.

    Number of CoursesClosed The number of courses required as part of the program.

    Quality UnitsClosed The sum of quality points divided by the sum of credits attempted that affect the GPA.

    Quality/Grade PointsClosed The quality points used in calculating the student's GPA.

    Units AttemptedClosed The units attempted by the student for the term or payment period.

    Units EarnedClosed The units earned by the student for the term or payment period.
