Include or Exclude Academic Years or Awards from SFAAA Updates

If your institution uses the Student Financial Aid Automated Awarding (SFAAA) feature to add awards, you can include or exclude academic years or awards from being updated when the SFAAA job is run.

If your institution uses SFAAA, a lock/unlock icon is displayed on the toolbar on the Academic Years page and pages for specific awards. You can toggle the icon to prevent SFAAA from making changes. The table describes the differences.

Where Locked Result If Locked
Academic year SFAAA changes the academic year (such as adding a new award).
Awards SFAAA does not change the award (such as the amount of the award).

For example, if all existing awards are finalized, but you want the student to be awarded any additional awards that become available, you can:

  • Leave the academic year unlocked

  • Lock the existing awards

Prerequisites

You must have Common - Student - View authorization.

To include and exclude dates for: 

  • Academic years, you must have Financial Aid - Academic Years - New or Financial Aid - Academic Years - Edit authorization

  • Awards, you must have Financial Aid - Student Award - New authorization or Financial Aid - Student Award - Edit authorization

If your institution has configured permissions for fund sources, you must also be in a staff group that has permission to add or edit the fund source.

Your institution must be using the Student Financial Aid Automated Awarding (SFAAA) feature to add awards.

Access Method

Awarding lists (Select the Students tile > select the name in the Students list > expand Financial Aid > select the Awarding tile.)

Procedure to Include or Exclude Academic Years or Awards from SFAAA Updates

  1. Verify that the program version is correct. If not, select the specific program version in the Program Version drop-down list.

  2. To exclude: 

    • Academic year sequences, select the Academic Years tab

    • Awards, select the award in the Awards list

  3. Toggle to the action.
