Registration

Begin registration and scheduling courses by selecting the Registration page and entering the required information.

In Portal 21.0 and later, the layout and spacing of the Portal Registration pages has been adjusted to ensure proper display on mobile devices. The images below show Registration Step 1, 2, and 3 on an Android device.

Registration Step 1 - Android

Registration Step 2 - Android

Registration Step 3 - Android

In Portal 21.1 and later, responsive design has been applied to the Portal Registration pages to ensure proper display on mobile devices (phones and tablets). The responsive design includes:

  • All Registration pages (Steps 1,2,3) fit screens of mobile devices supporting Android and iOS operating systems.

  • The grids on the Registration pages support horizontal and vertical scrolling allowing the user to view the details.

  • All click events work as expected.

  • All hover events have been converted to onClick events.

  • All popup messages are displayed correctly and can be closed by the user.

Registration adheres to a number of rules configured within Anthology Student. These rules affect min/max credits allowable in a specific term, advisor approval requirements, wait-listing, registration priority groups, and pre-registration options.

Note: When the value of the 'Add/Drop Flag' field is changed at the campus level (Setup > Campus Locations > Add/Edit > Acad. Records > General) from 'S - Course Section Enforced' to any other option (i.e., 'N - Not Enforced; 'T - Term Enforced'; 'C - Campus Enforced''), the Registration Configuration wizard in Anthology Student (Daily > Academic Records > Online Registration Configuration) must be opened to ensure values for the 'Add End Date' and 'Drop End Date' fields are populated at the Term level.

Register for Courses

  1. Navigate to My Academics > Registration.

Note: For students who are on a registration hold, the page displays a customizable message. The default message text is "You are currently on registration hold. Please contact Office of Registrar to resolve the hold." Administrators can edit the message text in the Portal Configuration tool under Page Transactions > Student Online Registration > Registration Hold Message. If a Hold Message is configured for the hold group for additional details using Config Tool > Campus > Hold Messages, it will be appended to the default configured message text configured under Page Transactions > Student Online Registration > Registration Hold Message.

  2. Select a Program. The current program is displayed by default.

The drop-down label "Program" is managed using a resource file. If the label needs to be modified as a part of Portal customization, edit the resource file.
    • If you are enrolled in one program only, the program is already selected.

    • If you are enrolled in multiple programs, a message is displayed indicating the number of programs you are enrolled in. Select the program for which you want to register classes.

      Select Program

To view this help topic about the registration page, select the View Registration Tutorial link.

Note: If a student’s current enrollment is set up as part of a dual enrollment set, by default the enrollment selected on this page is the active connected enrollment configured in Anthology Student.

  3. Select a Term. If only one term exists, the term is already selected.

The enrollment and term selection determine your registration status. You cannot proceed to Step 1 of the Registration until you select a valid enrollment and term.

  4. The Registration Status for the courses in the selected term and enrollment is displayed. It may include the following columns (depending on the Anthology Student configuration):

    • Code
    • Term Description
    • Term Period
    • Registration Period
    • Last Day to Add
    • Last Day to Drop
    • Status (check if Status = Open)

    Preregistration

In Portal 21.1 and later, when you select a term during the pre-registration time frame, the Registration Status section indicates "Pre-Registration is now open", the Register button label is changed to Pre-Register, and the Registration Assistant link is removed.

Select Pre-Register to proceed to Registration Step 1 where you can select and save courses for future registration. Courses saved during pre-registration will be available for registration when the term registration period opens, and you log in for the actual registration.

    Pre-Registration

    • When Term Relationship = Yes the grid displays the Term Code, Term Period (child Term Reg Start/End Date), and Registration Period. When Term period (child) = Future, the Registration button is disabled.

    • When the 'Campus for add/drop?' field is configured at the system level (Setup > Academic Records > Settings) to 'Course section's campus' to determine the Add/Drop date, Portal does not display the 'Last Day to Add' and 'Last Day to Drop' columns on the Registration page. Instead, the text 'Please see the course section for Add and Drop End Dates' is displayed in the Registration Status section.

    • When the 'Campus for add/drop?' field is configured to use 'Student's enrollment campus' to determine the Add/Drop date, and the student's enrollment campus is configured to use 'S - Course Section Enforced' (Setup > Campus Locations > Add/Edit > Acad. Records > 'Add/Drop Flag' field), Portal does not display the Add/Drop dates at the term level. Instead, Add/Drop dates are displayed at each individual Course Section level.

    • When the 'Campus for add/drop?' field is configured to use 'Student's enrollment campus' to determine the Add/Drop date, and the student's enrollment campus is configured to use any option other than 'S - Course Section Enforced' (Setup > Campus Locations > Add/Edit > Acad. Records > 'Add/Drop Flag' field), Portal displays the Add/Drop dates at the term level and does not display the Add/Drop dates at each Course Section level.

  5. Optionally, select expand to expand the Registered Courses section. This section displays details of your previously registered courses along with their current status. Verify the information displayed in the grid columns:

    • Title
