Usage Scenario for Working with Forms Builder

Patrick, the administrator at Lakeside University, is responsible for designing Forms for the Admissions Department of the university.

Scenario 1 – Working with Elements

Patrick needs the following fields in the Admissions Form:

To ensure that the preceding fields can be reused in other Forms that Patrick may create later, Patrick creates a Field Group.

To do so, Patrick performs the following steps:

  1. Signs in to Forms Builder.

  2. In the Fields tab, Patrick drills down to find the desired fields and drags them to the Canvas.

  3. Clicks SAVE to save the fields as the Personal Details Field Group. The Personal Details Field Group is now displayed in the Elements tab in the Toolbox.

Scenario 2 – Creating a Form Template

Patrick must create a Form that includes the Personal Details Field Group and University Rep, a new Form template.

To do so, Patrick performs the following steps:

  1. Moves the Personal Details Field Group and the University Rep Form Section to the Canvas.

  2. Clicks the SAVE button to save details as the PersonalandUniversity Form Template. The PersonalandUniversity Form Template is now displayed in the Forms & Rules tab in the Toolbox.

  3. Clicks CLEAR to clear the Canvas and clicks DESIGN to go into Design Mode.

  4. In Design Mode, Patrick clicks a Design Template to use as a base and drags the PersonalandUniversity Form to the Design Template Canvas. Patrick changes the Form Layout and style as needed.

  5. Clicks SAVE and clears the Canvas. Returns to Build Mode by clicking the BUILD button.

Scenario 3 – Creating a Sequence

Patrick must create a Sequence that includes the PersonalandUniversity Form. Further, Patrick must include a Rule that directs an applicant to view the Online Admission Form based on the Campus that the applicant selects.

To do so, Patrick performs the following steps:

  1. Clicks the Forms & Rules tab and moves the PersonalandUniversity Form from the Forms subtab to the Canvas.

  2. Clicks the Rules subtab and moves the Multi Route Rule to the Canvas.

  3. Configures the Rule to display the Online Admission if the applicant opts for an online program, and selects the Online Campus.

  4. Clicks the SAVE button to save the details as the Admissions Sequence. The Admissions Sequence is now displayed in the Sequences tab in the Toolbox.

Scenario 4 – Publishing a Sequence

A Sequence must be published in Build mode. When Patrick publishes the Admissions Sequence, it can be made available to the target audience.

Applicants of Lakeside University can view the Sequence when Patrick completes the following steps:

  1. In Build mode, Patrick moves the Sequence to the Canvas and then clicks the PUBLISH button to publish the Sequence.

  2. Confirms the Sequence configuration settings in the Publish Sequence dialog, and then clicks Publish.

  3. Clicks the Properties icon for the published Sequence to view the URL of the published Sequence.

  4. Copies the published Sequence URL and pastes it into a different browser to view the rendered Sequence.
